TDS removing phone, cable equipment in Jal, New Mexico

Project expected to be done by Dec. 1.

Over the next few months, a TDS Telecom contractor will be removing TDS aerial lines, including hardware from the existing telephone poles, and its underground cable equipment. An estimated 108,096 feet of material is expected to be removed.

The equipment removal project is expected to be done by Dec. 1, 2018. Ground restoration will also be completed at that time.

As of Sept. 15, TDS no longer offers cable and internet services in Jal. TDS informed its customers on Aug. 1, letting them know they will need to find a new provider as of Sept. 15.

Customers need to return TDS equipment (including set-top boxes, remote controls and modems) at its Hobbs office, 2827 N. Dal Paso, 8 a.m. to 5 p.m., or call 877-422-5282 to request an equipment-return box.
