TDS breaks ground on final ARRA stimulus project in Wisconsin
Project will ensure more residents from Wyalusing to Werley have access to high-speed Internet service
TDS Telecommunications Corp. (TDS®) says that construction is underway on its American Recovery and Reinvestment Act (ARRA) stimulus project in Wisconsin, near Wyalusing and Werley. Once complete, nearly 350 customers will gain access to TDS’ high-speed Internet services. [NOTE: See TDS’ Grantland Telecom project map by clicking the hyperlink.]
TDS has hired J.J. Vondrum & Sons, located just south of Lancaster, Wis., to do the outside construction work on this project. Once the outside work is finished, TDS will complete the inside work. The project is scheduled to be completed and accessible to customers by the end of the year.
TDS is receiving funding for the project from the United States Department of Agriculture’s (USDA) Rural Utilities Service (RUS) as part of the ARRA. With the start of this project, all 11 projects TDS is receiving ARRA funding for in Wisconsin are now underway. Near Wind Lake, TDS has completed a portion of the network and is now offering high-speed Internet service to many households in the area. Once all 11 Wisconsin projects are complete, about 7,500 households will gain access to a high-speed Internet connection.
