$500 to $1,500 scholarships available for Wisconsin high school seniors
The deadline to apply is February 6, 2018.
If you know a soon-to-be high school graduate, encourage them to apply for a Wisconsin State Telecommunications Foundation (WSTF) scholarship through TDS Telecommunications LLC (TDS®). All Wisconsin high school seniors graduating this spring are eligible to apply for the scholarships, ranging from $500 to $1,500.
Interested high school seniors can pick up an application from their high school guidance counselor or apply online at the WSTF website. To be considered for these scholarships, applications are due to TDS by Feb. 6, 2018.
“We are proud to support the Wisconsin State Telecommunications Foundation scholarship program and the opportunity it provides high school seniors to pursue a college degree,” says Jean Pauk, State Government Affairs manager at TDS. “This program helps to make college more affordable for the young people in the communities we serve."
TDS is teaming with other incumbent telephone companies across the state to offer the WSTF scholarships. In 2017, the Foundation awarded $51,750 to 40 students statewide, including:
- $1,500 scholarships to 30 graduating high school students
- A $1,500 Bruce Reuber Memorial Scholarship
- $750 scholarships to two first-year technical college students
- $750 scholarship to one second-year students attending Wisconsin Indianhead Technical College’s Broadband Technologies Program
- $500 scholarships to six technical college students
The WSTF panel will review all submitted applications. Finalists will be selected based on grades, academic achievements, and extra-curricular activities. Beginning in May, scholarships will be presented during the recipients’ high school graduation ceremonies or awards night programs.
Since 1966, the Foundation has awarded more than $1.5 million in scholarships to nearly 1,220 students. The Foundation is part of the Wisconsin State Telecommunications Association, a trade organization representing more than 65 Incumbent Local Exchange Carriers (including TDS), Internet Service Providers, and Wireless Carriers in Wisconsin.
