TDS named Independent Operator of the Year by Cablefax: The Magazine

TDS Telecom (TDS®) was selected by Cablefax: The Magazine as the Independent Operator of the Year.

“Congratulations to our Top Ops honorees,” said Amy Maclean, editorial director of Cablefax: The Magazine. TDS has “set the standard” during a challenging time for the entire country. By continuing to serve customers and its communities, TDS has also built a network and experimented in “new technologies.”

In congratulating TDS for winning Cablefax’s Independent Operator of the Year, Managing Editor Sara Winegardner, noted Cablefax has been “keeping a close watch on what TDS has accomplished over the past year, its fiber plans and even the unique strategies you all have embraced to be able to serve your customers. Congratulations!”

The magazine highlighted TDS’ ability to adapt. “The company hasn’t allowed the difficulties that came with the pandemic to deter it from many of its long-term plans. Instead, it kept pushing forward to innovate its video and broadband products, providing customers with everything they needed to work and relax at home.”

TDS President and CEO Jim Butman explained in the Cablefax: The Magazine story the TDS “strategy is pretty simple – by having an evolving next generation video product offering, you will gain substantially better broadband market share, and our numbers prove this.”

Butman congratulated the entire TDS Telecom team for achieving this accomplishment and for their hard work during the pandemic. “I’m so proud of our associates and all of the innovative ideas and the rapid pace they have worked during the last 18 months. Thank you, TDS associates for rising to the occasion,” he said.

LeRoy Carlson formed Telephone and Data Systems more than 50 years ago with a goal to bring the latest technology and outstanding customer service to the areas it serves.

“The company was started by the Carlson family…we have strong values, and the customer comes first all the time,” says TDS’ Julie Maiers, vice president of marketing and product development.

TDS’ Senior Vice President of Corporate Affairs Drew Petersen noted TDS is a company that works hard every day. “You need to make alterations quickly because ultimately, it’s your brand that’s on the line and you’ve got to protect and advance that every day.”
