TDS is headed to Big Sky Country!
TDS is growing its fiber footprint into Billings, Montana.
TDS Telecommunications LLC (TDS®) was recently granted a municipal franchise by the city of Billings, Montana, to build a 500-mile fiber-to-the-home network. The network will ultimately connect homes and businesses across the community and will deliver internet speeds up to 8 Gig, TDS’ all-digital TV service, TDS TV®+, and phone options.
Billings is the first city in Montana to receive a fiber optic network.
"We see a lot of potential in Billings and we are thrilled to continue expanding our fiber network," says Jim Butman, president and CEO of TDS. "With TDS Fiber, residents of Billings can ready their home for the future. We're proud to install fiber-optic telecom lines in the great city of Billings."
Billings City Administrator Chris Kukulski said the addition of TDS to Billings will result in higher-quality broadband and cable services at a more competitive price. "This competition will improve the city's economy," he said.
In addition, TDS' expansion into Billings will create new job opportunities. New positions are now posted on the company’s website.
"When the fiber network is complete, TDS will deliver up to 8 Gig internet speeds, plus exceptional and reliable bandwidth for businesses and residents," said Butman. “We’re inviting Billings to say hello to a reliable internet network, smarter Wi-Fi, and amazing customer service.”
Next month, TDS officials and contracted construction teams will kick off building its network to deliver up to 2Gig speeds. With speeds up to 2Gig, it’s possible to download a typical two-hour, 4K movie in under a minute.
Montana will be the 32nd state TDS offers its services.
TDS is building a 1,000-mile fiber network in Spokane, Washington, and a 700-mile fiber-optic network in Coeur d'Alene, Hayden, Hayden Lake, Post Falls, and Rathdrum, Idaho.
