TDS, Habitat for Humanity of Dane County: Partners in helping those in need
TDS Telecom (TDS®) is giving back to the communities it serves through hands-on volunteer work and financial support. TDS associates recently joined forces with Habitat for Humanity of Dane County, spending time pounding nails, painting, and landscaping in the Renaissance in the Park neighborhood in Fitchburg, Wisconsin.
In appreciation of the annual volunteer day by our associates, TDS also donated $1,000 to the worthwhile organization that has built 309 homes in Dane County since 1987.
“TDS shares Habitat’s goal of improving lives through homeownership, community, and hope,” said Kit Beyer, director of External Affairs and Communications. “We’re proud our associates are stepping up to support their important mission.”
Community involvement is part of TDS’ core beliefs as a company. Its “Be Good Citizens” program provides employees with 16 hours of paid time off every year to volunteer.
TDS associate Raul Carozza has been involved in the build days since they began in 2015. He’s also a member of his team’s Volunteer Committee.
“Not only did we have a great time, but it’s wonderful to have the opportunity to get out and make a difference in the community,” said Carozza. "When we started working in this area six years ago, it was a lot of open fields. Now, with the support of TDS, the Be Good Citizens Program, and Habitat for Humanity of Dane County, we've helped provide homes to people nearly every year."
Habitat for Humanity of Dane County CEO Valerie Renk thanked TDS’ dedication to the community.
“TDS has been a strong supporter of Habitat for Humanity of Dane County since 2005,” said Renk. “We are so grateful for their commitment to building a permanent, safe and affordable foundation for families right here in Dane County.”
