Fitchburg, Wisconsin project will bring up to 8Gig spends to about 8,000 addresses

TDS breaking ground on all fiber-optic network in Dodgeville and Mineral Point, Wisconsin
Residents will gain a new provider option and access to up to 8Gig symmetrical internet

Madison-based TDS Telecommunications LLC (TDS®) is expanding to Iowa County for the first time and building all-fiber networks in Dodgeville and Mineral Point, Wisconsin. The company’s Dodgeville project is underway and work is expected to begin in Mineral Point in the coming weeks. Both projects will ultimately deliver super high-speed internet, TV, and phone services to approximately 3,700 addresses across both communities. When complete, residential customers in the build footprint can choose up to 8Gigabit (or 8,000Mbps) upload and download speeds, and businesses gain dedicated connections of up to 10Gig.

“We’re excited to bring more consumer choice to Dodgeville and Mineral Point,” said senior vice president of Corporate Affairs Drew Petersen. “People and businesses want the reliable and super-fast connections that fiber-optics deliver for work, school, and entertainment.”

Construction work includes laying underground fiber in public utility easement areas in both neighborhoods and business parks. Residents will be notified of build activity through signage, direct mail, and door hangers. Beyond bringing super-fast internet speeds, TDS’ plans also mean residents gain a new TV and phone service provider choice.

“It’s nice to see another broadband provider extending its fiber network into our community,” said Todd Novak, mayor of Dodgeville and state representative. “Access to high-speed internet is essential and hopefully, this will help bring better internet to more residents who need to be served in our area.”

TDS offers a range of fiber internet choices up to 8Gig and all come with equal download and upload speeds. Residents can bundle TDS TV®+, a full-featured TV product, and phone services with their internet selection. TDS offers businesses dedicated connections, TDS TV+, and managed IP—TDS’ hosted VoIP communications solution. TDS is also a participant in the Affordable Connectivity Program (ACP). Qualified ACP customers can receive speeds up to 200Mbps at no cost with the company’s TDS Connect product.

“At TDS, we strongly believe we should become part of each community we serve,” said Petersen. “We hire locally, and you’ll see us giving back to charitable organizations and sponsoring events in the years to come.”

TDS is also building an all-fiber network in the city of Janesville as well as Onalaska, Eau Claire, Chippewa Falls, and Altoona, Wisconsin to name a few. The company is investing nearly a billion dollars in fiber-optic expansion across the state. TDS has been doing business in Wisconsin for 54 years and serves customers in 32 states.
