TDS signs on to sponsor the Badgers

TDS Telecom (TDS®) has signed a new multi-year agreement to sponsor Badger™ athletics. The partnership was brokered by Badger Sports Properties, a division of Learfield Communications, who represents the University of Wisconsin Athletic Department.

The three-year contract supports a broad array of athletic programs, including men’s and women’s basketball, women’s volleyball, and wrestling. The agreement includes advertising, tickets, signage, a contest, plus promotional events designed to engage community members of all ages from Madison and south central Wisconsin.

“Our employees and customers share a passion for the Badgers,” said Julie Maiers, vice president of Marketing and Product Development at TDS. “Joining forces with a fellow hometown team is a great way to offer unique Badger opportunities to people who live in the areas we serve.”

Through the partnership, TDS is sponsoring three youth teams to visit the Kohl Center™ and play a short scrimmage during half time at a regular season Badger™ basketball game. TDS will also be involved in two additional programs:  Book It with Bucky, and Stars of Tomorrow. Book It with Bucky encourages reading outside the classroom, and Stars of Tomorrow allows youth teams to take the field with the university’s softball team.

“The University of Wisconsin has always been a community leader and TDS has always been a technology leader,” said Maiers. “Like the Badgers we have a strong team at TDS. We share similar philosophies about investing in people and communities and strive to do our best every day.”
