TDS Telecom receiving $1.325M in funding from the Wisconsin Broadband Grant program

Projects will impact more than 1,500 locations across Mosinee and Stetsonville

TDS Telecom is pleased to announce it is receiving funding for two broadband projects from the Wisconsin Broadband Grant program, authorized by Wisconsin Governor Tony Evers and administered by the Public Service Commission of Wisconsin (PSCW). The announcement was made at the March Open Meeting of the PSCW this afternoon in Madison.

As part of the announcement, TDS Telecom (TDS®) will receive support to improve and expand internet service in Mosinee, located in Marathon County and Stetsonville, located in Taylor County in Wisconsin.

The following statement can be attributed to Drew Petersen, senior vice president for Corporate Affairs at TDS Telecom:

“We are extremely pleased our applications to upgrade broadband services in the Mosinee and Stetsonville areas have been approved. Our customers have been clamoring for improvement and will be the true beneficiary of these grants, which will ensure better, faster and more reliable internet service in these two communities.

“As part of the PSCW’s announcement, TDS will receive half of the $2.65M needed to build out services in Mosinee and Stetsonville. Through this 50/50 grant, TDS will receive just over $1.325M to deliver internet to 1232 eligible locations in Mosinee and 330 locations in Stetsonville.

“TDS is extremely grateful for the trust and confidence Governor Evers, PSCW Chairperson Valcq, newly appointed Commissioner Huebner, and Commissioner Nowak have entrusted in us to carry out these important broadband infrastructure projects.

“We look forward to breaking ground and moving these projects forward. The Public Service Commission of Wisconsin will soon provide us with a grant agreement. Then, we’ll review and formally accept the grant funding—and complete work within two years.”

Background:
In recent years, TDS received grants from the Wisconsin Broadband Grant Program to provide broadband in the Town of Berry and Town of Vermont, in northwest Dane County and Town of Cranmoor, in central Wisconsin.
