TDS reaches major milestone: a half million broadband subscribers
TDS Telecommunications LLC (TDS®) is proud to announce it has reached a major milestone: a half million broadband subscribers. The achievement was shared in the telecommunications company’s first quarter earnings report, which showed strong broadband connection growth and a 4% increase in revenues during the first three months of the year. TDS, headquartered in Madison, Wis., also reported it is delivering 1 Gigabit internet speeds to more than half of its total service addresses.
“Our primary strategic objective is to provide growth by investing in our high-speed broadband services," said Vicki Villacrez, senior vice president of Finance and CFO. “We are pleased with the successful start of the year and have aggressive plans to double our fiber service delivery from the prior year in 2021.”
TDS is a rapidly growing technology company with 1.2 million connections. It delivers high-speed internet, TV entertainment and phone services to nearly 1,000 rural, suburban, and metropolitan communities.
“Fiber is the most economical long-term solution to deliver the best broadband experience,” said Villacrez. “Selecting the right markets remains key to our future success.”
TDS is continuing its rapid deployment in new markets. It is currently launching fiber services in many areas across the country including Coeur d’Alene, Idaho, and Spokane, Wash., which were identified by a recent national survey as the hottest emerging housing markets in the U.S.
As the company provides services to new regions, it also invests in those communities. TDS takes a vested interest in the growth and success of the areas it serves through community involvement, volunteering, and local sponsorships of events.
