TDS powers up fiber network in Blue Ridge, Georgia
The new TDS Telecommunications, LLC (TDS®) fiber network in Blue Ridge, Georgia is now available to the first customers. All-fiber connections of up to 1Gig internet to homes, and dedicated connections up to 10G for businesses are ready for installation. Ultimately, more than 1,300 residential and commercial addresses will gain access to the super-fast speeds when the project is complete.
“We’re delighted to cut the ribbon on this high-speed infrastructure investment in Blue Ridge,” says Senior Vice President of Corporate Affairs, Drew Petersen. “Fiber-optic technology delivers an effortless online experience and will provide the connections residents and businesses need to grow and thrive in the years to come.”
TDS broke ground on the Blue Ridge fiber network earlier this year and will continue to roll out to customers in phases. Work is expected to be completed next year. Construction activity has included burying conduit and fiber cable in public utility easement areas and hanging cable on utility poles. The Blue Ridge project is the company’s latest network upgrade in Georgia. TDS recently started installing up to 1Gig speeds in Marble Hill, Nelson, and Ball Ground.
TDS’ fiber technology delivers a range of symmetrical internet options of up to 1Gig for homes, with all products offering equal download and upload speeds. Businesses included in the build area gain dedicated connections up to 10G, as well as phone service including managedIP, a hosted Voice of IP (VoIP) solution.
