TDS golf outing raises record $68,000 for charity
All proceeds benefit Domestic Abuse Intervention Services
TDS Telecom’s (TDS®) virtual TDS Open Charity Golf Event raised a record $68,000 for the Domestic Abuse Intervention Services (DAIS). Due to the ongoing pandemic, the in-person scramble golf tournament was held virtually, with TDS employees and company vendors contributing to the event’s success.
“This is a very important time to support the critical work DAIS does in the community. With the pandemic, the environment couldn’t be worse for domestic abuse victims of all ages,” says Jim Butman, president and CEO of TDS. “I’m incredibly proud of what we were able to accomplish together.”
The TDS Open, a popular employee event for 30 years, became a charity fundraiser in 2010. Since then, it has been an extension of the company’s long-standing commitment to giving back to the communities it serves.
“All of us at DAIS are incredibly grateful for this critical support from TDS, their employees and partners,” says Shannon Barry, Executive Director of DAIS. "In a year that has been unlike any other, their generosity will help keep the doors open, the phones staffed, and vital services available for some of the most vulnerable individuals in Dane County. Thank you!”
The TDS Open has raised, in total, more than $400,000 for various charities in the Madison area.
“I’m incredibly pleased with both the unselfishness of our employees and the generosity of our many vendors,” says Butman. “Thanks to everyone for their generosity and support—it’s an example of how, when times are tough, we can work together to accomplish wonderful things.”
