TDS fiber expansion in Stoughton, Wis. now complete

Nearly 82 miles of fiber now connects more than 7,300 area addresses to super high-speed internet

TDS Telecom (TDS®) has completed its  fiber-to-the-home network build in Stoughton, delivering up to 1Gig internet download and upload speeds, along with TV and phone service. First announced in 2019, the project was completed ahead of expectations and now connects more than 7,300 area addresses. The build included installing nearly 82 miles of fiber throughout the community.

“We are pleased that our residents and businesses in Stoughton will have another quality service option for TV, phone and internet,” says Stoughton Mayor Tim Swadley. “This was a rather large project and we appreciate the care that was taken to restore properties in the construction areas.  We look forward to TDS being in our community to provide service to our residents for years to come.”

According to BroadbandNow.com, only 32% of the United States has access to fiber internet, putting Stoughton among a select number of communities with access to what is referred to as “the gold standard of residential internet connections.”

“We appreciate the city’s enthusiasm for fiber service and partnership on this project,” says Andrew Petersen, senior vice president of Corporate Affairs at TDS. “The build has been a resounding success and we’re pleased to be here and be part of Stoughton’s future.”

As part of a recent fundraising event, TDS matched community donations to give an additional $3,000 to Stoughton charitable organizations. The funds were split between Stoughton Area Resource Team (START), the Kiwanis Club of Stoughton, the United Pentecostal Church of Stoughton, Stoughton Football, the Affordable Transportation Program, and the Housing Advocacy Team of Stoughton (HATS).

In addition to fast internet, TDS’ expansion to Stoughton gives residents a new choice for TV and phone providers. TDS’ TV product, TDS TV®+ offers local and national networks, integration with popular streaming services, the ability to start shows over, and cloud DVR. Phone packages and service bundles are available.

10Gig dedicated connections are available for businesses, as well as TDS’ hosted VoIP communications solution, and TDS TV+.

TDS will begin installing services to the final build areas. Residents can visit TDSTelecom.com or call 888-225-5837 to learn more and sign up for service.
