TDS donates $5,500 to Stoughton, Wisconsin area non-profits

TDS Telecom (TDS®) is stepping up to help Stoughton, Wisconsin non-profits during this pandemic. The company, who recently announced they are building a fiber-optic network in the community, announced they have donated a total of $5,500 across 11 Stoughton-area charitable organizations.

“When we heard Syttende Mai was going to be cancelled this year, we knew many non-profits would lose their biggest fundraiser,” says Curtis Hall, associate manager of Field Marketing at TDS. “We’re happy to lend a hand and help assist these very worthy groups.”

TDS donated $500 to each of these local non-profits:

  • American Cancer Society Relay for Life
  • American Legion Post 59
  • Boy Scout Troop #167
  • FFA Alumni
  • Friends of the Public Library
  • Rotary Club of Stoughton
  • Stoughton Lions Club
  • Stoughton Youth Hockey
  • Stoughton Area Youth Soccer
  • World of Change Leaders

In addition, the company also recently gave an additional $500 to the Stoughton Area Youth Center to support their programs. TDS’ charitable giving is a reflection of the company’s commitment to giving back to the communities it serves through volunteer work, in-kind, and financial support.

“Curtis and his coworker Sam Albolkhair have been very proactive in being present and supportive of the Stoughton community,” says Callie LaPoint, events and visitor services manager for the Stoughton Chamber. “Everything from brainstorming ideas with different businesses to generous donations supporting non-profits that benefit from our annual Syttende Mai Festival that we had to cancel. I’m excited to see some of Curtis’s ideas and promotions be brought to life and support the Stoughton community”

This spring TDS kicked off construction on their fiber-optic network that will deliver 1Gig internet, TV, and phone service to the community. The build comes on the heels of TDS’ fiber expansion to Oregon, McFarland, and Monona, Wisconsin. The first Stoughton customers will be connected to the network later this year.
