TDS donates $7,500 to support tornado and disaster relief efforts in Tennessee
To support the continuing recovery efforts from storms that ripped through Tennessee and Kentucky last month, TDS Telecommunications LLC (TDS®) has donated $7,500 to the Mid-West Tennessee Region American Red Cross’ fund designated to support the area’s tornado victims.
“We care about the community and know people are still struggling in the wake of December’s storms,” says Bruce Mottern, TDS State Government Affairs Manager. “We’re happy to help play a role in the storm recovery efforts as there is a real need for continued support.”
The storms moved through Tennessee and Kentucky on Dec. 10-12, 2021 spawning dozens of tornados which impacted thousands of homeowners and residents. The Red Cross continues to provide a wide variety of disaster relief, including assisting those who are still without housing.
“Thank you to everyone at TDS for providing a generous gift to the Red Cross. We are grateful for your financial support to help us offer continued hope to those impacted from the Southern/Midwest/Kentucky tornadoes,” said David Hicks, American Red Cross Executive Director for Mid-West Tennessee. “Your support helps with recovery efforts like shelter, meals, comfort and support.”
Helping the communities where TDS provides services is an important part of the company’s mission. In addition to donations like this one, TDS also provides associates with 16 hours of paid time off every year to volunteer at the 501(c)(3) organization of their choice through its Be Good Citizens program.
