TDS boosting top available speeds to 8Gig fiber in Bruceton, Tennessee
TDS Telecommunications LLC (TDS®) is launching up to 8Gig internet speeds to Bruceton, Tennessee customers. The company first announced plans to bring fiber connections to the area last fall. Although the company initially expected to bring connections of up to 1Gig, now it is delivering service up to eight times faster. The super-fast option will be available to the approximately 2,500 customers included in TDS’ upgraded fiber network area.
“We are investing in the newest generation of fiber technology to ensure we brought the fastest-possible top speeds to Bruceton,” says Senior Vice President of Corporate Affairs Drew Petersen. “Streaming, working remotely, attending school online—regardless of what you need and want to do online, fiber delivers the bandwidth and the seamless internet experience customers are looking for.”
TDS started construction on its fiber network late last year and the new services are rolling out to customers neighborhood by neighborhood as build work is completed. All the company’s internet products are symmetrical, meaning the upload and download speeds are equal. Businesses in the build footprint can choose up to 10Gig dedicated connections that include a service level agreement, as well as phone service including managedIP, a hosted Voice over IP (VoIP) solution.
Beyond the company’s standard range of speeds that begin at 300Mbps, TDS also offers a low-cost product for qualifying Affordable Connectivity Program (ACP) participants. TDS Connect includes 200Mbps/200Mbps speeds and the monthly cost is fully covered by the ACP benefit.
“The federal government estimates that 40% of households across the U.S. qualify for the ACP program to reduce the cost of internet access,” says Petersen. “We urge everyone in our service territories to check whether they qualify.”
