TDS begins connecting customers to fiber network in West Salem, Wisconsin
TDS Telecommunications LLC (TDS®) has powered up its all-fiber network in West Salem, Wisconsin and has started installing service to the first customers. TDS, a Madison-headquartered company, is a new communication service competitor in the area, bringing up to 8Gig symmetrical internet for homes, and up to 10Gig dedicated connections for businesses. All customers included in the build footprint can also choose the company’s TV product, TDS TV®+, as well as phone services.
“It’s exciting to reach this milestone and have customers begin to enjoy the difference that fiber makes,” says Drew Petersen, senior vice president of Corporate Affairs for TDS. “It’s reliable, it’s incredibly fast making it simply the best-possible technology available for whatever you want to do online.”
TDS broke ground on the high-speed infrastructure project earlier this year and is lighting up the network as sections are completed. In addition to West Salem, TDS recently launched services in Sparta and Tomah while continuing progress on its fiber networks in both Bangor and Rockland.
Included in the company’s range of fiber speed options is a low-cost product for qualifying Affordable Connectivity Program (ACP) participants. TDS Connect includes 200Mbps/200Mbps speeds at a price that is fully covered by the monthly ACP benefit.
Fiber-optic technology is considered the gold standard for high-speed infrastructure because it uses light to transmit data resulting in faster speeds, more bandwidth, and it’s scalable for future needs. According to a 2022 Fiber Broadband Association report, fewer than half of U.S. households had access to a fiber connection.
TDS has career opportunities available in the area, as well as remote work roles. Visit tdstelecom.com/careers for more information. Fiber service availability and options is available at TDSFiber.com.
