TDS opens retail location in Wausau, Wisconsin

Storefront offers a space for trying and ordering TDS Fiber products

TDS Telecom (TDS®) is quietly opening the doors on its new retail location in Wausau. The storefront, located at 227040 Rib Mountain Drive, gives residents the chance to try TDS TV+, the company’s new TV offering, explore service packages, and register for service in person before TDS Fiber launches to the first area customers later this summer.

“We want residents have the opportunity to experience the technology for themselves,” says Erin Danz, TDS’ Director of Marketing. “We’ve created a safe space where people can visit to ask questions, register, and see TDS TV+ in action.”

Due to the pandemic, only one customer may be in the store at a time. Social distancing is required, and mask wearing is encouraged.

The Wausau Chamber is holding an in-person ribbon cutting Thursday, July 16 at 3:30 p.m. The event will be recorded and will be available on the Wausau Chamber’s YouTube page. The store’s regular business hours are Thursday and Friday from 9 a.m. to 6:00 p.m., and Saturday 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.

A year ago, TDS announced it was building a fiber-optic network in Wausau, Kronenwetter, Rothschild, Schofield, and Weston, Wisconsin. When the build is complete, TDS will deliver up to 1 Gigabit internet along with TDS TV+, the company’s new cloud-based TV product, and phone service to area residents. Installations are expected to begin in Weston and Kronenwetter in late summer, with rollouts continuing through 2022.
