TDS awarded a $1.55 Million Wisconsin Broadband Expansion Grant
TDS Telecommunications LLC (TDS®), a Madison, Wisconsin-based communications company, was awarded more than $1.55 million in funding for a broadband expansion project in southwest Wisconsin. The Public Service Commission (PSC) of Wisconsin selected TDS’ Farmers Telephone Company project to provide fiber-to-the-home internet to more than 800 customers in Grant County in the following townships: South Lancaster, Lancaster, Beetown, Ellenboro, Harrison, Little Grant, North Lancaster, Potosi, Waterloo, and Liberty.
“TDS is pleased to partner with the state on this worthwhile project to bring TDS’ fiber-fast internet services to these homes and businesses,” said Drew Petersen, Senior Vice President of Corporate Relations.
The award approved by the PSC commissioners amounts to a grant of $1,555,174. This is in addition to the two previous grants that are being executed on currently in Potosi and Necedah.
“I want to thank the commissioners for acknowledging the need for internet access in this area,” said Petersen. “We look forward to having additional opportunities to work with the state to bring fiber internet to unserved and underserved areas.”
TDS has been doing business in Wisconsin for 54 years and serves customers in roughly 100 communities in the Badger State.
