TDS Telecom partners with New Hampshire Telephone Museum on new interactive space

WARNER, New Hampshire – TDS Telecommunications LLC (TDS®) is proud to partner with the New Hampshire Telephone Museum (NHTM) on an exciting new interactive space to help further illustrate one of the world’s greatest inventions.

The new Sound Wave Lab at the museum, located at 1 Depot St. in Warner, allows visitors to dig deeper into the science behind the telephone. The space includes hands-on stations on how sound waves compare to light waves, electrical circuits, the human ear, and hearing loss. You can also play an instrument called a tubulum, turn light into sound, create color shadows, and more.

An opening celebration will take place May 21, with extended hours until 5 p.m., gallery tours, and hands-on demonstrations of sound wave stations throughout the day. The event also features raffle prizes and TDS coloring books.

“As a provider of telecommunications services in New Hampshire for over 50 years, we are excited to sponsor the New Hampshire Telephone Museum’s new Sound Wave Lab and help tell the story of the history of the telephone. We thank the museum for providing another excellent educational resource for the public to learn from and enjoy,” said TDS Regional Manager of Field Marketing Tyler Hunsaker.

“TDS has supported our mission for years and we are forever grateful for their continued commitment. Sponsorship has never been more important than it is today. Nonprofit organizations like the New Hampshire Telephone Museum can only offer outstanding exhibits, programs, and educational resources because of the generous support of people like those at TDS,” said NHTM Director of Programming Graham Gifford.

“The new Sound Wave Lab brings an even higher level of education to the subject of telephony, yet at the same time, it makes learning so much more fun and entertaining. We just know this is going to excite visitors of all ages!” added NHTM Director of Education Megan Hurley.

The New Hampshire Telephone Museum has been called a “must see destination” and a winner of the Concord Insider Cappie Awards. NHTM offers a robust season of programming; highlighted this summer is an Amateur Radio event and a presentation on Code Talkers. The galleries are open May – October, 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Admission prices and all other details can be found at NHTelephoneMuseum.org.
