TDS starts construction for fiber network upgrade in Butler, Lisman, Needham, and Pennington, Alabama
TDS Telecommunications, LLC (TDS®) has started construction on an all-fiber network upgrade project in Butler, Lisman, Needham, and Pennington, Alabama. The project will deliver fiber connections including up to 8Gig internet to homes, and dedicated connections up to 10Gig for businesses.
When completed, more than 4,000 residential and commercial addresses will gain access to super-fast internet speeds and a variety of phone options.
“Reliable fiber is coming to Butler, Lisman, Needham, and Pennington,” says Senior Vice President of Corporate Affairs Drew Petersen. “Fiber-optic networks are the future for homes and businesses. No other product can match the resiliency of fiber technology.”
Contractors have started construction and will bury most fiber lines in public utility easement areas, as well as placing some lines on utility poles. As sections of the network are completed, services will become available.
TDS’ fiber technology delivers a range of symmetrical internet options of up to 8Gig for homes, with all products offering equal download and upload speeds. Businesses included in the build area gain dedicated connections up to 10Gig, as well as phone service including managedIP, a hosted Voice of IP (VoIP) solution.
TDS is funding the entire Alabama project. For 36 years, TDS has served customers in the area. Founded and headquartered in Madison, Wisconsin in 1969, TDS now delivers 1.2 million customer connections of high-speed internet, phone, and TV services to customers in 32 states.
