TDS launches expanded fiber network in Maine
HAMPDEN, Maine – TDS Telecommunications LLC (TDS®) has reached a milestone in its fiber internet expansion in Maine, connecting the first customers to its state-of-the-art network since construction began earlier this year.
TDS has launched upgraded service to customers in Hampden, where the company’s all-fiber network will now serve about 2,700 resident and commercial locations, including 1,200 new locations. Construction in Hampden is expected to finish later this month; when completed, TDS’ fiber network will be available in nearly every neighborhood in the community.
The Hampden project is part of TDS’ plans to bring fiber communication services to a number of municipalities in the state, including more than two dozen communities in Somerset and Franklin counties.
“We’re delivering on our commitment to bring fast, reliable internet connections to more residents and businesses in the state of Maine,” said Drew Petersen, TDS Senior Vice President of Corporate Affairs. “Good internet is no longer an option, it’s a necessity. We are excited to make these worthwhile investments in these great communities.”
More customers in additional communities are expected to be connected in the coming months.
In addition to super-fast internet with download and upload speeds up to 1Gig, TDS offers special bundle savings when paired with phone options. TV will be launched in the coming months.
TDS has served Maine since 1971. In addition to private investment, TDS is leveraging Alternative Connect America funds to expand and improve broadband service to customers in Maine.
