TDS has Big Plans for 8Gig in Montana in 2023
Construction set for 2023 in Helena, Butte, Missoula, Lolo, and Great Falls
TDS Telecommunications LLC (TDS®) will be delivering its all-fiber network to Helena, Butte, Missoula, and Great Falls, Montana this year.
In these communities, TDS has commenced final build preparations with our construction partners and will break ground on its fiber network in 2023. TDS will eventually connect more than 100,000 homes and businesses. When construction is completed, TDS will deliver symmetrical internet speeds up to 8 Gig, TDS’ all-digital TV service, TDS TV®+, and a variety of phone options for residential and business customers.
“We are thrilled to expand our fiber network to the residents and businesses of these great Montana cities,” says Andrew Petersen, TDS Senior Vice President of Corporate Affairs. “We are confident our reliable fiber networks will bring these communities the tools for the future.”
An 8 Gig internet plan is ideal for broadband super users, specifically those who use photo or editing programs, stream content, and play mid-to-high-end video games. The robust connection means subscribers can download and upload files—regardless of size—nearly instantaneously, making it well suited for commercial customers as well as households with large, shared internet needs.
The Madison, Wisconsin-based company is currently building a fiber-to-the-home network in Billings, Montana and will ultimately connect homes and businesses across that city.
TDS customer Ted Kim from Billings has nothing but praise for TDS Fiber. “I know it's going to be up; I know it's going to be fast, and it's just one less thing for me to worry about.”
Since announcing it was bringing its fiber network to Big Sky Country 18 months ago, TDS has hired 34 associates in Montana. TDS' expansion into Great Falls, Helena, Missoula and Butte communities will create even more new job opportunities with new, local positions posted on the company’s website at tdstelecom.com/careers.
TDS is a good corporate citizen and in its first 18 months in building its fiber network in Montana, TDS has infused tens of thousands of dollars for local sponsorships and donations to charitable organizations.
