TDS fiber project in Englewood, Tennessee is now complete
Construction on TDS Telecom’s (TDS®) Englewood, Tenn. fiber network project is now complete. Fiber-fast internet speeds of up to 8Gig are available to all 1,200+ addresses included in the build footprint. The project, funded entirely by TDS, also brings 10Gig dedicated connections to area businesses.
“We know how anxious the community has been for this data infrastructure project, and we’re pleased everyone can now benefit from this reliable, state-of-the-art network,” says TDS Senior Vice President of Corporate Affairs Andrew Petersen.
Work on the fiber network started last November, which included hanging and laying underground cable in easement areas as well as upgrading equipment cabinets. TDS launched fiber service this spring to the first customers, gradually expanding availability as sections of the network were completed.
One of the new service options is a low-cost 200Mbps product for Affordable Connectivity Program (ACP) participants. Called TDS Connect, the product includes up to 200Mbps/200Mbps symmetrical speeds at a cost that is fully covered by the monthly ACP benefit.
“The ACP program helps make sure residents can stay connected to school, work, and health care,” says Petersen. “Internet service is essential, and I hope residents will check whether they can take advantage of this benefit.”
TDS is also building a fiber network in Monroe County, impacting Ball Play, Coker Creek, and Tellico Plains. This project is leveraging Tennessee Emergency Broadband Fund – American Rescue Plan funds.
TDS has been a local provider in Englewood for 37 years. Residents can visit tdstelecom.com or call 1-888-225-5837 for more information about the new service options.
