TDS fiber network expansion underway in Lake Hallie, Wisconsin
Company marked start of construction with $7K donation
The TDS Telecommunications LLC (TDS®) fiber network build in Lake Hallie has begun. The company’s Chippewa Valley expansion will connect around 2,700 addresses in the village to its all-fiber infrastructure that delivers up to 8 Gig speeds, with up to 10 Gig dedicated connections available for businesses. In celebration of the start of construction and as a commitment to the community, TDS donated $7,000 to the Chippewa Valley Pickleball Club to help permanently light the courts.
“The people of Lake Hallie have been asking for us to bring our fiber service to their community since we started our Eau Claire project,” says Senior Vice President of Corporate Affairs Drew Petersen. “With the build underway, residents will soon enjoy all the smooth, reliable, connections fiber optics deliver.”
TDS’ project brings a new internet, TV, and phone provider option for Lake Hallie residents included in the build footprint. Construction will include accessing public utility easement areas to bury conduit and cable. Residents will be notified in several ways before construction starts in their neighborhood, including signage and by postcard, letter, and door hanger. Residential installations are expected to begin this fall.
The Madison-headquartered company was a new entrant to the Chippewa Valley market in 2022 but has quickly built a positive reputation. TDS was recently named the Best Internet Service Provider in the Volume One Reader poll, only three years after connecting is first customers in the area.
TDS plans to connect more than 40,000 addresses across its Chippewa Valley to its fiber-optic network. The company completed its Chippewa Falls build in summer 2024 and expects to finalize Altoona by fall this year. The Eau Claire build is ongoing.
TDS recently unveiled new All-In Pricing, making it more affordable and simpler than ever for customers to make the switch to fiber service. The monthly rates are truly 'all-in'—the price you see is the price you pay. Area residents can visit tdsfiber.com to register for service, monitor the progress of the build, and sign up for notifications about the new service.
