TDS donates $1,000 to Puerto Seguro Safe Harbor in Socorro, New Mexico
As part of its Week of Giving, TDS Telecommunications (TDS®) donated $1,000 to Puerto Seguro Safe Harbor on Wednesday. Each year, TDS increases its philanthropic activities during the holiday season through a companywide Week of Giving campaign. One of the company’s core values is giving back to the communities it serves through TDS Cares initiatives. Themed giving events will be held throughout TDS communities from Monday, Nov. 27 through Friday, Dec. 1.
“Now more than ever, it’s important that we help TDS communities thrive,” said Senior Vice President of Corporate Affairs Drew Petersen. “We hope this week will inspire others to give back to their communities throughout the holiday season.”
Puerto Seguro Safe Harbor provides a day shelter for persons who are homeless and struggling with poverty. This week, TDS also donated $250 donation to the Animal Protective Association of Socorro.
In July, TDS connected its first customers in Socorro, New Mexico marking a massive milestone for fiber internet services in the community.
TDS expects to offer 8Gig internet speeds along with a sophisticated digital TDS television product (TDS TV®+) and a variety of phone options. TDS will ultimately provide services to nearly 5,300 new residential and business addresses in Socorro.

“The federal government estimates that 40% of households across the U.S. qualify for the ACP program to reduce the cost of internet access,” says Petersen. “We urge everyone in our service territories to check whether they qualify.”
