Apply today - $2,000 and $3,000 scholarships available to Minnesota high school seniors

The deadline to apply is February 16, 2024

Scholarships applications are now open to prospective 2024 Minnesota high school graduates. TDS Telecommunications LLC (TDS®) is partnering with the Minnesota Telecom Alliance (MTA) Foundation to award seven scholarships for a one-time amount of $2,000 or $3,000 for students who reside in the communities the company serves.

Student applications are available through their school counselor or online at the MTA web site. Interested applicants should fill out the scholarship form and include their high school transcript, essay, and class rank. To be considered for these scholarships, apply by Feb. 16, 2024.

There are two types of scholarships available:

$3,000 Jon Tollefson Technology Scholarship: To be eligible, applicants must be a high school senior with plans to major in either Telecommunications or Information Technology (IT) at a university, college, or technical college and be a Minnesota resident. One Jon Tollefson Scholarship will be awarded.

$2,000 General Scholarships*: To be eligible, applicants must be a high school senior with plans to attend post-secondary education at a university, college, or technical college, be a Minnesota resident, and the applicant’s family must subscribe to at least one service from an MTA member company. Six General Scholarships will be awarded. *Note: The Bud Marrow Scholarship will be awarded to the highest scoring applicant in this category and receive an additional $1,000.

A Minnesota Telecom Alliance panel reviews each application and selects the finalists based on applicants’ grades, academic achievements, and extra-curricular activities. Preference is given to students who have an interest in telecommunications technology and rural communities.

“We’re proud to support the MTA scholarship program and the opportunities it presents to high school seniors in pursuit of higher education,” said Angie Dickison, State Government Affairs manager at TDS. “It’s rewarding to help make college more affordable for deserving students in the communities we serve.”

TDS has been a proud provider of communication services in Minnesota for 55 years. The MTA Foundation is part of the Minnesota Telecom Alliance, a trade association promoting and representing 44 telecommunications providers in the state.

TDS Telecom applicants should forward their application to Angie Dickison c/o TDS Telecom, 525 Junction Rd, Madison, WI 53711 by Feb. 16, 2024.
