PSC of Wisconsin Commissioners visit TDS training facility
Tour and demonstration provided insights into industry hot topics
TDS Telecommunications LLC (TDS®) hosted Public Service Commission (PSC) of Wisconsin Chairperson Rebecca Cameron Valcq, Commissioner Summer Strand, and PSC staff at the company’s Waunakee Broadband Training Facility on Wednesday, May 17. The officials were invited to learn more about the Wisconsin company and its training facility that’s meeting the workforce needs of the industry and the state.
“We’re pleased Commissioners Valcq and Strand were able to join us today,” said TDS Director of External Affairs and Communications Kit Beyer. “We’re proud to be a local success story and to share more about our internship and apprenticeship programs, as well as showcase our state-of-the-art training facility.”
TDS representatives, PSC commissioners and staff were joined by Bill Esbeck, Executive Director of the Wisconsin State Telecommunications Association and Josh Morby, Wisconsin Broadband Workforce Coalition.
In addition to a tour, TDS offered a variety of technology demonstrations that are key elements of building modern fiber-to-the-home networks the company deploys including fiber splicing.
“We all know fast and reliable internet is essential for business, school and entertainment,” said Beyer. “We appreciate the opportunities that are being provided to expand services to unserved and underserved areas of the state.”
Beyond the many fiber-to-the-home construction projects the company has in progress in Wisconsin, TDS also spoke about the FCC’s Affordable Connectivity Program (ACP). TDS is participant and qualifying ACP customers can choose the company’s TDS Connect product that can include symmetrical speeds of up to 200/200Mbps at no cost.
Founded and headquartered in Madison in 1969, TDS now delivers 1.2 million customer connections of high-speed internet, phone, and TV services to customers in 32 states.
