TDS launches fiber services in Oregon, Wis.

More than 1,300 area addresses now have access to 1Gig internet, TDS TV, and phone service

Installations of TDS Telecom’s (TDS®) fiber-to-the-home services in Oregon, Wis. are scheduled to begin this week. The launch of the new state-of-the-art products comes less than a year after the company announced it was building a fiber network in the village, expanding the company’s footprint to the area.

“This is an exciting milestone for Oregon residents,” says Julie Maiers, vice president of Marketing and Product Development. “Thanks to the full-fiber network, they can now experience the speed and reliability of a world-class internet connection for entertainment, school, and work.”

TDS and its contractors have constructed nearly 57 miles of fiber in the area to date. When completed, the more than $7 million project is expected to connect at least 4,700 Oregon homes.

The fiber network delivers residential internet speeds up to 1 Gigabit per second (Gbps/Gig) along with the company’s full-featured TDS TV® and phone service. Area businesses can also order TDS TV for Business as well as up to one gigabit internet, dedicated fiber connections, and TDS’ hosted VoIP business phone solution, managedIP.

Residential customers who registered for TDS Fiber will be contacted to schedule an installation appointment. TDS will also be reaching out to business customers. The fiber-to-the-home services will be rolling out to the rest of the Oregon area through summer and fall.

Neighborhoods within the expansion footprint had to meet a registration goal and deadline to guarantee a buildout. As of mid-February the vast majority of Oregon neighborhoods had met threshold. Residents can still receive special offers if they register before their neighborhood launches.

“The top speeds on a fiber network can’t be beat using any other technology,” says Maiers. “Whether you’re streaming a show, shopping online, gaming, or working from home, once you have that super-fast connection, you get spoiled really quickly.”

TDS TV®, powered by Mediaroom®, features more than 190 all-digital channels (including HD), video-on-demand and pay-per-view, picture-in-picture channel surfing, parental controls, and instant channel change. TDS TV also includes a Connected-Home DVR and wireless set-top boxes.

Oregon residents interested in more information can visit the TDS retail location at 218 Wolfe Street on Wednesday, Thursday, or Friday between 8:30 a.m.-5:00 p.m., call 1-888-225-5837, or visit TDS Fiber.
