More progress on TDS’ Maine fiber expansion
TDS Telecommunications LLC (TDS®) continues to make progress on its fiber internet expansion in Maine, with high-speed connections launched in more communities.
More than 1,700 addresses in Hartland and about 500 addresses in Athens now have access to the TDS fiber network, with more to come in each community. Construction is expected to begin soon in neighboring communities such as Harmony, Ripley, Solon, and Embden as part of TDS’ Maine fiber expansion, which will bring better connections to more than 30 communities in state.
Construction is also under way in Warren, which will bring fiber internet to about 1,800 homes and businesses, and has been completed in Hampden. The Hampden network serves nearly 2,800 addresses.
“We’re excited to build on our history of over 50 years in Maine and deliver world-class internet to communities across the state,” said Andrew Petersen, TDS Senior Vice President of Corporate Affairs.
The TDS network features download and upload speeds up to 1Gig, with TV to be launched in the coming months. TDS also offers special bundle savings when paired with phone options.
In addition to private investment, TDS is leveraging Alternative Connect America funds to expand and improve broadband service to customers in Maine.
