1Gig internet now available in Medford and Auburndale, Wisconsin

Fiber network and TDS TV launching to more than 1,200 addresses

TDS Telecom (TDS®) has launched its fiber-optic broadband service to the first homes and businesses in both Medford and Auburndale, Wisconsin. This service, available today, delivers internet speeds up to 1 gigabit (1Gig) plus TDS TV®, the company’s digital TV product, along with digital phone. Additional addresses will gain access to the full TDS product suite in the coming months, eventually reaching more than 2,300 locations across both communities.

“We’re excited to have customers enjoy new, faster, and reliable speeds,” says Julie Maiers, vice president of Marketing and Product Development at TDS. “Fiber-optic networks can handle all of today’s technology—everything from streaming and gaming, to work and educational activities. It’s truly a game changer.”

Beyond up to 1Gig internet speeds, TDS’ fiber network will bring a new choice of TV providers to Medford and Auburndale residents. TDS will be offering its all-digital TV service, TDS TV for the first time in these communities. The all-digital service, already available elsewhere in Wisconsin, includes local channels and a variety of industry-leading features including a Connected-Home DVR, which links all TVs in a home together giving full DVR functionality and programming access to each set-top box.

TDS TV is also available to business customers in the fiber footprint. In addition, businesses can choose internet access and transport connections up to 10Gig via dedicated fiber as well as, TDS managedIP, a hosted VoIP communications solution.

TDS is also working on rural network improvement projects in the area. Depending on location, the majority of eligible rural customers will receive improved broadband speeds of up to 25Mbps download and 3 Mbps upload (25/3).

The fiber-optic network expansion is fully funded by TDS while the rural network upgrade projects are funded with help from the Federal Communication Commission’s Alternative Connect America Cost Model (A-CAM) program.

Auburndale and Medford residents can visit TDSFiber.com to order service and see if their address will be included in the fiber build.
