First TDS Fiber customers receiving service in Billings, Montana
TDS Telecommunications LLC (TDS®) launched its fiber network in the first areas of Billings, Montana this month, including portions of the Heights neighborhood. The Madison, Wisconsin-based company has more than 100 residential and commercial orders ready to install with more than 1,300 service addresses connected to the state-of-the-art fiber network. The TDS Fiber network will eventually connect homes and businesses and deliver internet speeds of up to 8 Gig.
"We are delighted to begin turning up our fiber network, our all-digital TV services, and a variety of exceptional phone services in Billings for residential and commercial customers," says TDS Senior Vice President of Corporate Affairs Drew Petersen. "With TDS Fiber, these new customers can now ready their homes and businesses for the future and receive exceptional and reliable bandwidth speeds from TDS."
TDS is working with CEC Facilities Group, Irving, Texas, to construct the network. CEC began construction less than a year ago in downtown Billings. In addition, TDS has hired 21 associates in Billings with new positions now posted on the TDS website.
With speeds up to 8 Gig, it’s possible to download a typical two-hour, 4K movie in under a minute.
Billings is the first city in Montana to receive a fiber optic network. Montana is the 32nd state TDS offers its services.
