TDS bringing fiber to Helena, Montana
TDS Telecommunications LLC (TDS®) will be delivering its all-fiber network to Helena, Montana, the second community in the state to get some of the fastest internet speeds in the country.
TDS will be building a fiber network starting later this year to connect homes and businesses. When complete it will deliver symmetrical internet speeds up to 8 Gig (8,000 Mbps), TDS’ all-digital TV service, TDS TV®+, and a variety of phone options for residential and business customers.
“We are thrilled to announce we are expanding our fiber network into another great city in Montana,” says Andrew Petersen, TDS Senior Vice President of Corporate Affairs. “Fiber networks are in high demand, and we are excited to bring our reliable technology to Helena and to provide residents the latest tools to upgrade their home for the future.”
TDS recently signed a franchise agreement with the city of Helena, which will bring a vibrant new competitive choice for broadband services to Montana’s Capital City.
“We appreciate the opportunity to work with TDS on a franchise agreement to offer their services here,” says Helena Mayor Wilmot Collins. “It is important that the City partners to provide residents access to new broadband services as opportunities are presented that make sense. I think this agreement will be a benefit to Helena.”
The Madison, Wisconsin-based company is currently building a fiber network in Billings, Montana. In August, TDS announced the construction of a fiber-to-the-home network, which will ultimately connect homes and businesses across Billings. With speeds up to 8 Gig, it’s possible to download a typical two-hour, 4K movie in under a minute.
TDS' expansion into Helena will create new job opportunities, with new positions now posted on the company’s website at tdstelecom.com/careers.
