TDS completes large fiber network expansion in Pequot Lakes, Minn and surrounding communities
Nearly 2,900 additional addresses have gained 1Gig connections; Hackensack build planned
TDS Telecommunications, LLC (TDS®) is announcing the completion of multiple fiber network projects, wrapping up construction in Pequot Lakes, Pine River, Breezy Point, and Jenkins, Minnesota reaching nearly 2,900 additional addresses with super high-speed connections. The fiber-to-the-home infrastructure expansion grows the availability of up to 1Gig symmetrical internet to homes, and up to 10Gig dedicated connections to businesses. The company is also planning a fiber expansion in Hackensack, to bring the same fast speeds to approximately 300 additional addresses.

The expansion projects added more than 46 miles of fiber across Pequot Lakes, Pine River, Breezy Point, and Jenkins. The new buried infrastructure delivers a range of symmetrical internet options—the service has the same download and upload speed—for homes. Businesses in the fiber footprint gain dedicated connections up to 10G. TDS also continues to offer their TV product, TDS TV+ for all customers, as well as phone service including managedIP, a hosted Voice of IP (VoIP) solution for businesses.
The company’s network upgrades mean these Minnesota communities are now part of a select group of places in the U.S. with access to a high-speed fiber connection. A recent Fiber Broadband Association report, stated only about 43% of U.S. households have a fiber-optic network available.
TDS has served customers in the area for 28 years and has done business in Minnesota since 1969. The Wisconsin-based company, which started as a group of small telecoms, is now a leader in fiber deployment and serves customers in 32 states and more than 1,100 communities.
