Construction to begin on high-speed internet network in Nampa, Idaho
TDS Telecommunications LLC (TDS®) is set to begin construction on a high-speed internet network in Nampa, Idaho, which will ultimately connect about 50,000 addresses to the “gold standard” of residential internet connections.
Work on the network is scheduled to start Tuesday, Nov. 30, with the first neighborhoods expected to be connected in 2022. The project will include hundreds of miles of fiber delivering up to 2Gig internet speeds for residents and 10Gig for businesses, as well as provide TV and phone service.
Residents will be notified in several ways before construction starts in their neighborhood, including signage and by postcard, letter, and door hanger. Contractors will work to minimize disruptions to neighborhoods and restore any areas impacted by the burying of fiber-optic cable. When construction is completed, neighborhoods will have access to some of the fastest internet speeds in the world. Residents can visit TDSFiber.com to register for service, monitor the progress of the build, and sign up for notifications about the new service.
TDS’ expansion into Nampa will also create new job opportunities, with new positions posted on the company’s website.
“We are excited to break ground on a high-speed internet network that will better connect Nampa residents, local businesses, schools, public safety agencies, and many others,” TDS Senior Vice President of Corporate Affairs Andrew Petersen said. “We look forward to continuing to serve the community for many years.”
