TDS Telecom celebrates opening of Butte facility with Gov. Gianforte
BUTTE, Montana – TDS Telecommunications LLC (TDS®) celebrated the opening of its new Butte facility with a ribbon cutting event featuring Gov. Greg Gianforte and TDS President and CEO Jim Butman, as well as a donation to a local nonprofit.
The warehouse and office space, located at 3888 Wynne Ave., will house the latest in technology that will help facilitate TDS’ all-fiber network, which is bringing state-of-the-art internet, sophisticated digital TV products, and phone services to Butte and other Montana communities.
The TDS fiber network under construction will serve more than 15,000 homes and businesses in Butte with internet speeds up to 8 Gig – fast enough to download or upload a file of any size nearly instantly. For businesses, the company offers dedicated connections up to 10 Gig.
“Our new TDS facility in Butte is where the future begins. In the coming months as we build out our network, we will continue to lay down roots in Montana, add jobs, and work as hard as we can to deliver the quality broadband services this state deserves,” Butman said.
Giving back to the community is a core part of the company’s mission. At the ribbon-cutting event, TDS presented a $5,000 donation to the Hungry Hill Center for Art, Education, and Outreach, which helps fight hunger and provides education programming in Butte.
In addition to Butte, TDS is building fiber networks in Billings, Great Falls, Helena, Helena Valley, and Missoula. The company has made a capital investment in the state of nearly $160 million and has so far created more than 100 jobs, with more hiring under way.
TDS, operating as TDS Metrocom LLC, is a family-operated company founded in 1969. Residents can visit TDSFiber.com to register for service, monitor the progress of the build, and sign up for notifications about the new service.
