TDS Telecom offers 1Gig to customers in 19 communities across four states

Gigabit is quickly becoming one of the newest buzz words when it comes to super-fast Internet speeds. In 2014, TDS Telecom entered the gigabit conversation. First rolling out gigabit service in Hollis, N.H. and then expanding to customers in nearly two dozen communities across parts of New Hampshire, Wisconsin, Georgia and Tennessee.

In order to help bring 1Gig to as many communities as possible, TDS Telecom buried about 900 miles of new fiber in 2014 and is leveraging existing fiber already in the ground. According to TDS Telecom, they plan to lay another 900 miles of fiber in 2015.

“What sets our gigabit service apart from most of the pack is the rural markets where we are introducing this super-fast Internet speed,” says Matt Apps, manager of Internet Product Management and Development at TDS Telecom. “Instead of the larger metropolitan areas, we are making 1Gig service available in near-by, smaller and more rural communities.”

The 1Gig service, which features 1Gbps downstream and 400Mbps upstream, is critical to connecting the local community to the digital world. With 1Gig, residents can telecommute more effectively and work from home more efficiently. For current residents, it’s one more reason not to move away. For people looking to re-locate, which translates to growing the local economy and homes retaining (or increasing) in value, 1Gig can help a community appear more attractive.

TDS Telecom currently offers 1Gig Internet service to customers in parts of:
Wisconsin: Elkhorn, Johnson Creek, Monroe, Waterford, Wind Lake
New Hampshire: Antrim, Bennington, Chichester, Contoocook, Deering, Hillsborough, Hollis, Hopkinton, New London
Tennessee: Farragut, Halls, La Vergne, Mt. Juliet
Georgia: St. Marys

The 1Gig service from TDS Telecom is available for under $100 a month as part of a TDS TV bundle. TDS TV includes a Connected-Home DVR (which links all TVs together), more than 260 all-digital channels (including 100+ in HD), on-demand TV and movies, pay-per-view, and on-the-go viewing options. Wireless set-top boxes are also available.

Included in the bundle, free of charge, is a subscription to Remote PC support, which provides users with unlimited access to technical support. The online technicians assist with device setup, Internet troubleshooting, computer optimization, safety and much more.

In 2015, the company plans to place another 800-900 miles of fiber to offer 1Gig Internet service to more customers. For more information, residents can visit www.tds1gig.com or call 866-44-TDSTV.
