TDS announces three new fiber optic communities to be connected in Wisconsin
Wausau, Kronenwetter, and Rothschild, Wis. to receive gigabit speeds
TDS Telecom (TDS®) announces three new areas added to a growing list of fiber-to-the-home communities in the state.
Wausau, Kronenwetter, and Rothschild will receive TDS broadband internet service, along with other entertainment and phone options, within the next 24–36 months, depending on location. When completed, the network will ultimately connect nearly 25,000 homes and businesses across the three communities.
“We couldn’t be more excited to extend our fiber optic network further into Central Wisconsin,” says Drew Petersen, senior vice president of Corporate Affairs at TDS. “The reliability and speed of a world-class internet connection will future-proof these communities, fostering additional growth and economic development for the region.”
The new fiber optic network will deliver residential internet speeds up to one gigabit along with the company’s full-featured TDS TV® and phone service. Area businesses will have the choice of up to one gigabit internet, dedicated fiber connections, and TDS’ hosted VoIP business phone solution, managedIP.
TDS is actively building a similar state-of-the-art network in Stevens Point, Vesper, Auburndale, Junction City, Mosinee, Schofield, and Weston, Wis., as well as, in several Dane County communities. In total, TDS serves 87 communities across Wisconsin.
“We’re committed to bringing advanced technology and new service options to more people,” says Petersen. “Our broadband services will increase opportunities for teleworking, online education, and telemedicine.”
