1Gig internet launched in Kronenwetter and Weston, Wisconsin
More than 1,500 area customers can connect to TDS Fiber service
TDS Telecom’s (TDS®) fiber-optic network has launched to the first residential and business customers in Kronenwetter and Weston, Wisconsin. TDS Fiber, which delivers up to 1 gigabit (1Gig) internet speeds along with TV and phone service, is now available to more than 850 Kronenwetter and more than 700 Weston addresses. Additional launches will occur in phases in the coming months. When the build is complete, about 9,800 addresses across both communities will have access to the all-fiber network.
“Whether people are working from home, attending school online, or spending time watching their favorite shows and movies, TDS Fiber delivers the speed and bandwidth people are looking for,” says Julie Maiers, vice president Marketing and Product Development at TDS. “We couldn’t be more excited to get customers connected so they can begin to experience what our services offer.”
In addition to 1Gig internet, the launch of TDS Fiber brings a new TV service choice to Kronenwetter and Weston. TDS TV+®, TDS’ new cloud-based TV service, combines live TV—broadcast channels, regional sports content, and national cable channels—with streaming services like Netflix*. TDS TV+ also includes a voice-activated remote which allows customers to have quick access to the full functionality of their TV service.
“It’s a new TV experience that uses smart technology to give customers custom recommendations based on what they watch,” says Maiers. “Customers can also stream live TV and recordings on their personal devices at home or on the go with TV Everywhere functionality.”
Businesses within the TDS Fiber footprint can order internet access and transport connections up to 10Gig via dedicated fiber, TDS managedIP (a hosted VoIP communications solution), and TDS TV.
Registered customers in the launch areas will be contacted to schedule their installations.
TDS first announced plans to expand to Kronenwetter and Weston last year. Addresses in Wausau are expected to launch later this year. Area residents can visit TDSFiber.com to see if their address is included in the fiber build and sign up for notifications about the new service.
