Vice President of Data Management and Chief Information Security Officer
Steve was appointed vice president of data management and chief information security officer (CISO) in December 2023. Steve has served as CISO since April 2022. In this role, he leads cybersecurity, data privacy, and cyber risk management for TDS Telecom and its parent company, Telephone and Data Systems, Inc. As the vice president of data management, Steve oversees data governance and data management, helping the company use data to improve operations and better serve our customers and communities.
Since joining TDS Telecom in 2000, Steve has held leadership roles across Information Technology, Product Development, and Network Services. His experience spans architecture, cybersecurity, IT infrastructure and operations, data analytics, product development, and network planning. Most recently, Steve served as director of the Security and Technology Center of Excellence, where he championed cybersecurity maturity and modernized infrastructure platforms.
Steve earned an MBA from the University of Wisconsin-Madison and a Bachelor of Arts in Computer Information Systems from Wartburg College (Iowa).
Originally from Mendota, Illinois, Steve and his family have lived happily in Milton, Wisconsin for more than 20 years. Outside of work, Steve enjoys spending time with his family and bicycling. Steve is an ardent supporter of Rock University High School, where he serves on the governing board.
