Note: These steps are representative; each android device maybe slightly different. Since your email is no longer provided by Google/Gmail, the Gmail specific application will no longer work. The steps below will instruct you how to remove this account so that you are no longer using the Gmail application for your TDS email. 

A new Email account will need to be set up:

  1. Open the Email app.
  2. If there is already an email account set up, go to the phone Settings -> Add account -> then email to get to the add accounts screen (the layout of the settings screen will vary for all android devices)
  3. Enter e-mail address and password and click Manual.
  4. Select IMAP Account.
  5. For Incoming server settings, enter the following information:
    • Email Address - Your full TDS email address
    • Username - Your full TDS email
    • Password - Your TDS email password
    • IMAP Server - mail.tds.net
    • Security Type - SSL
    • Port - 993
  6. Press Next.
  7. For outgoing server settings, enter the following information:
    • SMTP Server - mail.tds.net
    • Security Type - TLS
    • Port - 587
    • Make sure Require sign-in has a checkmark in it.
    • Username - Your full TDS email address
    • Password - Your TDS email password
  8. Press Next.
  9. Press Next (the Default account options should not need to change).
  10. Enter your name as you would like it to appear in the "From:" field of outgoing messages.
  11. Press Done

To change your email settings in your mobile device’s default email app (IMAP/POP):.

  1. Open the Email app.
  2. Press the ... on top right.
  3. Press Settings.
  4. Press Manage accounts.
  5. Press the TDS email address.
  6. Press More Settings.
  7. For Incoming server settings, enter the following information:
    • Email Address - Will already be filled in
    • Username - Will already be filled in
    • Password - Your TDS email password
    • IMAP Server or POP3 Server - mail.tds.net
    • Security Type - SSL
    • Port - 993
  8. Press Done
  9. For outgoing server settings, enter the following information:
    • SMTP Server - mail.tds.net
    • Security Type - TLS
    • Port - 587
    • Make sure Require sign-in has a checkmark in it.
    • Username - Your full TDS email address
    • Password - Your TDS email password
  10. Press Done
  11. The email account will be updated

To receive TDS Email on your mobile device for the first time:

  1. Open the Email app.

  3. Enter e-mail address and password and click Manual setup.
  4. Select IMAP Account.
  5. For Incoming server settings, enter the following information:

    • Password – Your TDS email password
    • IMAP Server - mail.tds.net
    • Security Type - SSL
    • Port - 993

  7. For outgoing server settings, enter the following information:
    • SMTP Server - mail.tds.net
    • Security Type - TLS
    • Port - 587
    • Make sure Require sign-in has a checkmark in it.
    • Username - Your full TDS email address
    • Password - Your TDS email password

  10. Enter Your Name as you would like it to appear in the "From:" field of outgoing messages.
